How I Lost 20lbs in 7 Months

Recently, I shared my 7 month weightloss results on my Instagram page and everyone’s jaw dropped-including my own.

For those of you who do not know, I got really sick last year. This unexplained illness lead me to remove my silicone breast implants in December of 2018 and you can read more about why I chose to do this here.

After having a major surgery to remove my breast implants, I embarked on my health journey to lose the extra weight that I had gained throughout 2018 from dealing with hormonal imbalances, extreme fatigue, headaches, and joint pain which had prevented me from working out-or getting out of bed most days.

WORKOUTS

Once I removed my implants and started healing from chest surgery, I began to feel much better. My breast implant illness and autoimmune symtoms virtually went away so I was able to workout again starting in February with light exercises. I also began going to live yoga classes at a studio this month and I still go 3 days a week.

This is a sample day from my Strong Body Guide home workout guide.

When March hit, I was 100% healed and started going hardcore with my Strong Body Guide: 12 week home workout plan. My workouts included 5 days a week: 2 lower body days, 2 upper body days, and one ab day in additon to my yoga classes. I spent 20 minutes completing my SBG strength training workouts followed by 20-30 minutes of cardio on my incline trainer going at 3mph and 15% incline. Since I have now reached my goal weight, I have decided to cut my cardio down to just 3 days a week now to focus more on weights and gaining more muscle!

One of the biggest questions that I have been asked was how did I get rid of my cellulite. The short answer: I reduced my overall body fat by working out frequently and cleaning up my diet. However, if you would like a more indepth explanation of how I reduced my cellulite, check out this YouTube video.

The truth about cellulite is that there is no magic pill, tea, cream, or fix for it and most of the time your genetics will play a huge role in determining if you will have it and how hard it will be for you to get rid of. Though it is in my genes and I still have some cellulite left, I was able to reduce mine greatly by doing the right things. It does not happen overnight and it took me a little over half a year to improve this!

DIET

The other huge component to me losing 20lbs in 7 months was drastically changing my diet. While I was sick last year, I did not physically feel like cooking so we ate out at restaurants quite a bit. However, I realized this was a terrible excuse so I decided to meal prep my breakfast and lunches.

I used my own 12 Week Strong Body Guide Meal Plan recipes as well as purchasing prepped meals from a preppery. There is a local shop in my town that cooks and puts together meals that you can purchase for the week and all of their meals are usually gluten free. I found out recently through 23&Me that I have a gluten sensitivity, which explained some of my bloating and once I stopped eating it, my stomach became happier!

My daily meals look something like the following:

Breakfast: Protein coconut flour waffles (from my meal prep shop) or eggs with homemade oatmeal and coffee

Lunch: Salmon, cod, chicken breast, or sirloin paired with veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) and brown rice or quinoa from the meal preppery

Dinner: We usually use HelloFresh 4 nights a week and for the other nights I will eat out and enjoy whatever I want. I am not so strict for dinnertime. I do love some seafood though!

Snacks: I love snacking! My favorites are boiled eggs, protein donuts, peanut butter on rice cakes, watermelon, mango, and homemade cheddar chips.

Drinks: mainly water, coffee, fresh pressed juice, and sometimes kombucha. I do not drink alcohol anymore.

I hope that this has been helpful to you! I know it is not rocket science and there is no magic answer to losing weight. We all want to see results fast and get that instant gratification. But the truth is, it takes time and you must be patient.
