Our Trip to Riviera Maya Mexico at Azul Beach Resort

Last month, we had the pleasure of taking a 4 day vacation to Riviera Maya, Mexico right below Cancun for the first time ever. We chose to stay at the Azul Beach-Riviera Maya Resort and I must say that it was hands down one of the best resorts we had ever visited. The plane ride from Florida to Mexico was not bad at all as we traveled for a total of 5 hours with one stop. Once we approached the Mexican coast, the views from up above were spectacular!

We used Lomas travel to shuttle us from the Cancun airport to Azul Beach Resort which only took about 20 minutes or so. The shuttle was so clean and the driver was so kind to us! Upon arriving to the resort, the hosts took our bags and we were greeted with champagne and smoothies. This was the best hospitality I had ever seen from a resort in my entire life-I felt like royalty! One of my favorite things about the lobby were these bed swings!

After being given a tour of the facility, we headed to one of the prime places to eat on the property called Blue. This happened to be our favorite place for breakfast and lunch throughout our stay. I ordered the beef fajitas three times total because they were so darn good. My mouth is drooling as I type-I miss it!

After eating, we explored the beach a little bit and ended up having dinner on the beach featuring a mariachi show and dancing. The next day, we woke up early and rented a Bali bed by the beach which was shaded and nice for relaxation! One of my favorite spots were these swings that overlooked the ocean.

I swung and sipped margaritas all day it seemed like while the kids played in the sand! Can you imagine a better dream? The hosts would come around and ask periodically if we needed anything whether it be food or beverage. My favorite was the frozen blue margarita.

Another favorite of mine was the big coconut drink! It featured a couple different liquors and coconut water.

If you weren’t into frolicking in beach water, Azul Beach had multiple amazing pools to dip in! Some pools even featured a swim out deck from your room such as this one. I had honestly never seen anything like it before!

But most of our time was spent under the Bali bed since we rented one for two days. I loved how it kept the kids from getting too hot and was perfect for nap time. Azul Beach is most definitely baby and toddler family and I would recommend it for any family vacation. This resort happens to be all inclusive which means you pay a certain fixed amount and all food, drinks, and your room are covered. You do not even have to leave the resort for anything!!

Speaking of kid friendly, on our second day, we had a character themed breakfast featuring the Ninja Turtles! We chowed down on smoothies, yogurt, fruit, and pancakes while watching the show and even getting to be involved!

The kids were served fresh apple juice straight from an apple which was pretty fun!

Another thing that my kids absolutely loved about Azul Beach was the Scoops ice cream shop featuring SpongeBob!

Can I just take a second to brag about the staff at Azul Beach? They were so hands on and helpful! They even played with our kids and made us feel right at home. This woman in particular, Audi, was one of the nicest people I had ever met and now we still keep in touch! My kids adored her and she took the time to hold them and get to know us!

During the day, there were plenty of children’s activities in store. My son really enjoyed this one which was coconut painting by the pool. He was so sad when we couldn’t bring the coconut back home with us due to agricultural laws.

So he slept with his coconut all night and told it goodbye before we left for the airport.

The water in Riviera Maya, Mexico was clear blue as you can see. I did not snorkel much, but I did get to see a spotted baby sting ray in the shallow waters. The water was calm which was a big plus for the kids! When I go to my usual vacation spot (Hawaii), the waves are always so big and scary for them so Mexico was perfect.

Oh and the rooms! They were huge and spacious-they also included a stocked fridge. It was nice having such roomy suite for two kids to run around in.

The tub and waterfall shower were big favorites of mine!

I highly recommend Azul Beach Resort. Not just for couples or a romantic trip, but also for the entire family. I had nothing but a GREAT time.

If you wanted to book a stay with them, you can take $150 off a 4 night stay at any one of their properties with code SCooperBGKH
