I Did WHAT To My Eyebrows?!
A lot of you have commented on my brows and asked what has changed. I am pretty stoked to share that I actually tried microblading for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago. My best friend told me about it and I thought it could be a good thing for me. I am a pretty bold and spontaneous person so I figured why not?
All my life-including now-I sucked at doing my brows. I sucj a tweezing, waxing, shaping, penciling-you name it. I just cannot groom my brows to save my life! So, this is why I chose microblading. I had many questions from you all on what it is to how much it hurts.
What is microblading? Microblading, also known as microstroking, is an advanced brow embroidery technique whereby a superfine row of needles is used to create thin, hair like marks on the skin. Basically, it is like a semi-permanent tattoo.
How much is microblading? The price depends on what state you are in and where you go. Some places like New York and California charge up to almost $1000. I personally paid $450.
How long does it last? Microblading is a way of semi-permanent make-up, where through manual process of inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin we create the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. The effects last up to 12 months after which the pigment fades leaving the skin and your natural brows exactly as they were.
Does it hurt? It depends on your ability to handle pain. Usually, a numbing cream is applied, but even with the cream, I still felt pain. It hurt like hell! I have lots of tattoos, but somehow this was worse-maybe because there are a thousand nerves in the face! It is bearable though.
How long is the process? The whole appointment was about 2 hours long.
What happens during your first appointment? You arrive and your eyebrows are measured. The lady then drew on my shape and filled in what my brows would look like after the session. I got to look into a mirror and to see if I wanted them thicker or thinner. Then, my brows were waxed and tweezed. Next, a numbing cream was applied. Lastly, the tattooing began.
How long is healing? Roughly about 2-3 weeks-like any normal tattoo.
Do you have to shave your real brows? No… not unless you just want to, I guess. Mine are all there.
When do you go back? You go back within a month for a touch up and then you must go back once yearly to do it all again. Otherwise, it will fade away.
Was it worth it? Totally. I love the fact I now have a semi-permanent shape there and I do not have to take much effort to fill my brows in when I go to do my makeup. I wake up with my eyebrows “on fleek” haha. It’s really nice.
