4 Tips to Keeping Your Baby’s Skin Healthy During Winter

How many of you ladies have children who suffer from eczema?

My daughter was born with sensitive skin and eczema and still struggles with it as she is approaching two years old. Picking products that we can use on her hair and skin has always been difficult since the wrong ingredients can lead to a rash or outbreak. However, we noticed her skin gets worse in the winter because the cold can be so harsh! This happens to be because during the colder months, we are most likely to stay inside which leads to being exposed to dry air thus skin issues.

So how exactly do you improve your baby’s skin during these harsh winter months? Here are my 4 top tips!

Use a humidifier.  Your heating system will suck the moisture out of your baby’s skin so uing a humidifier will help to put some of that moisture back into the house, and into your baby’s skin. Plug a humidifier into the area closest to where your baby naps or sleeps at night.

Protect against the cold. When you leave your house, the best thing that you can do is to layer your baby up to protect from the harsh elements of winter. A hat and possibly a scarf is very helpful for bundling, but be careful not to overlayer. Also using a carseat or stroller canopy can work wonders for protecting your baby from the cold wind.

Keep baths warm. During the winter, you may think that the water is best kept as warm as possible, but the hotter it gets, the more baby’s skin will dry out. Choose lukewarm water instead of hot to save baby’s skin and further prevent eczema.

Treat your baby with Eucerin Baby. We have in love with using the Eucerin Baby line because it soothes my daughter’s eczema flare ups and dry skin when she needs it the most. In particular, the Baby Eczema Relief Body Creme is our favorite though there are four other helpful products in the line! Its main ingredient is colloidal oatmeal which is an amazing moisturizer that also provides nutrients to the skin. All products are paraben and fragrance free to further protect your baby’s skin.

Eucerin Baby products are clinically proven to be sensitive enough to moisturize and soothe baby’s delicate skin, even when irritated. So if you are a first time mom-or even a veteran mom- who’s looking for the safest and most trustworthy product for her baby, you have found it!

I’ve used Eucerin for years before I even became a mom because they more than 100 years of innovative skin science behind each of their products so moms are comfortable knowing they have a safe and effective formula.
